It’s already Friday!! Here you go with my Friday five.

1. Seriously, try giving your kids one of these for Christmas and see what happens.

2. Ugh…Senior Choir singing “Don’cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me.”

3. Marketing, Church, and Starbucks!! I cried watching this video.

4. I haven’t seen this movie, but a few on my staff have said that everyone should.

5. On a serious note…please pray for Keyla. A beautiful little young lady that comes to our church went into cardiac arrest, had a seizure, and had to be shocked back to life. She is stable now, but her and the family could really use our prayers.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

John Piper on the election

I get quite a bit of flak for not using our pulpit more for political reasons. I could write out a million reasons why I don’t use my office to speak much on politics, but instead let me give you a video from John Piper that supports my views and says them in a way that is very articulate and passionate. I couldn’t say it better myself.

I’m grateful

It’s important, every once in a while, to stop and take a personal inventory.

You have heard me use this quote before…“It is hard to be grateful and depressed at the same time.” I have been taking some inventory lately. I have stopped…intentionally…and looked around to see what God has really done in my life. And, I have to say…He has been good to me. My family for sure, and especially to our church…he has really really been good to us.

This past week reminded me just how good we have it. I spoke with a few of my pastor friends, and through those talks, it caused me to be even more grateful for our church and our people. It seems like almost every time I turn around I am talking with another pastor that is losing people, can’t get people to give, struggling to build momentum, and locked into a gridlock of broken church. Forget reaching new people…they are just trying to keep their old ones. Honestly, my heart breaks for them.

My prayer this week has been that we always remember who God is…and that the battle is His. It is easier to get blessed and forget that He is our source and start trusting in our “stuff.” But, if we remain grateful for His blessings…they will follow us all the days of our lives. We need to learn that it is our job to be faithful…it is God’s job to bring increase.

When was the last time you took inventory?

New day for a new shout out

* Disclaimer*** oops…I hit save instead of publish…haha…this should have been up yesterday at 8am. So, here you go!*

I am proud of our whole team. I have been blessed to be surrounded by some great leaders.

Today, I would like to send a shout out to Adam Beale. He runs the sound, lights, and a few other technical goodies here at the church. He is a fantastic guy to be around. Most see his sense of humor, and he has a great one, however he is also very tender-hearted for the things of God. You can see it.He takes what he does seriously and that makes me take him seriously. Just an awesome man.

He is having surgery this morning to repair some very important urinary issues so please pray for him and his family.

On another note, if yesterday’s services were any indication of how this week is going to be…then I can’t wait…it is going to be a fantastic week!

What’s COOKing?

Sunday morning for both the 9:30 and 11:00 services the KidNation team is starting a new series called “What’s Cooking?’ They are going to cook breakfast for the kids with some skit material attached to it…so they can bring out the Bible in a creative manner…You don’t want your kids to miss it. Once again, it is for both services so either one will do, but it is going to be a great time. :)

Also, give your kids the opportunity to check out the newly installed gaming stations in the kid’s church area. What a blast. I have already told the staff…no playing during the week!!

See you Sunday!
