I have so much respect for olympians. They are just amazing to me. The dedication and single minded focus that they have towards their goals is clearly inspiring. They all have motivating factors…I mean really…they would have to in order to put up with the grueling training regiment, the lack of financial backing (for most), and the chance to compete only a few times in a matter of fours years (for most)….with no guarantee of even qualifying for the olympics. Amazing.
So here is my question…what motivates you? Obviously, most of us, do not have the olympics games to prepare for…just the olympics of life…but what motivates you to be a good parent, employee, or the best leader you can?
Here are some things that motivate me.
1. Jesus and His all consuming love for us. Can you really break that one down in one short blog post? No, so I will leave it at that.
2. I hate religion, inprisonment to sin, and poverty. I HATE those three things more than you know. God didn’t send His son to die for us so that we continue to live in that state.
3. Criticism…and the belief by others that one can’t succeed. For some, it causes them to second guess, stop, or even abandon the plans that God has given them…for me it just becomes fuel for the fire. Turn it into an opporturnity. Not an opportunity to prove people wrong, which is pride, but an opportunity to show people how big God is.
Tommorow, I will finish up with a few more. But, in the meantime, what motivates you?
