Week in the life (part 2)

In keeping with my original post from yesterday, here is the rest of what a “normal” week for me looks like. If, we don’t manage our time…it will manage us. I believe that our time here on Earth is a gift from God. Let’s use it to the best of our ability. Here is the rest of the week.

Wednesday- This is the longest day, by far, of my week. The morning is blocked off for Ethos preparation. Now, that I have one more service to prepare for it is a little more study intensive, but the payoff is huge. I will usually hit a lunch appointment, if I can, and then I head in at 5:30 pm for another appointment. Ethos and Refuge starts at 7:00 and is usually over around 8:30 followed by a time of fellowship.

I know a few pastors that will not work past 5:00pm on any day of the week. I have always struggled with asking people to do something that I won’t do myself. If, the praise and worship team and our small group leaders go to work during the day and then come to practice or lead their groups then I think that the leadership of the church should show the same devotion. Thats why every week I have to two late nights away from my family…Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday- Is buckle down and get some administrative stuff done in the morning. In the afternoon, it’s either study for my devotion with the praise and worship team or for all staff meetings depending on what week it is. I normally take two appointements in the evening before both for those that can’t get off work.

Friday- I used to do yard work all day at the church, but with recent additions to staffing I don’t do it much anymore. I kind of miss it. However, Friday is an intense study day at the house. I heard Mark Driscoll say something that just rocked my world. He said, “Only come into the office at church for appointments…do all the studying you can at home.” At home, I have less interruptions and more time to focus on what is important. Friday night is for my family.

Saturday- All day is for the family and for my house. No exceptions. I usually hit the sack around 8pm so I can be fresh for in the morning.

A few questions to leave with you…what does your week look like? What needs to be dropped? What needs to be added?
