So, this weekend I am answering several questions on Worship. If, you have missed any weeks of the questions series…you can listen to them here.

This post tore me up.

Meaningful

Everyone looks for things in life that are meaningful. Everyone. No matter how old, young, rich, poor, or race…we all want to be meaningful, do meaningful things, and leave meaningful things into others. What do you want to leave in this life that is meaningful? Or, that has meaning?

I hear all the time that the salvation is free. Pastors that stand behind their pulpits and say this really have started to bug me…tremendously. Yes, it’s a correct statement that God has made the gift of salvation free, but it’s only a half-truth. Salvation is free to us, but it cost God His son…and it cost Jesus His life.

It is free to us, but just because it didn’t cost us anything…doesn’t mean it didn’t cost someone else something. Here is why this is important. Salvation is not the end it is the beginning. Jesus didn’t die for us…so that we could JUST go to Heaven. But, He died so that our relationship with Him could be restored back to its rightful place. Jesus isn’t fire insurance…He is your best friend, lover of your soul…broken or otherwise, counselor, mighty king, our provision, and our healer.

Salvation is fabulous…but take a different look at what happened on that cross…I think you will find what Jesus did has more meaning. And that, is meaningful.

The Blessings of Brokeness

Craig Groeschel wrote this post and it really messed with me. I can remember times in my life where, at the time it didn’t look this way, but times that God was truly breaking me. He has molded me…and it doesn’t always feel good. But, he does it in such a way that you draw closer to Him…and you are more useable for His service.

Are you willing to pray the most dangerous prayer that you can? If, you are then read further.

Enjoy!

God rarely (if ever) uses good things to break you. The “breaking” is painful.

On the other side of brokenness, you’ll find many blessings:

  • The problems that used to seem big barely register as problems in your world.
  • People’s opinions of you don’t mean nearly as much.
  • You fully embrace that you “don’t have enough.” Then—and only then—can God become everything you need.
  • You discover an intimacy with God that sustains you moment by moment.
  • Scripture becomes the bread that nourishes you.
  • Heaven becomes closer. This world doesn’t hold you as tightly.

If God is breaking you, I feel for you. I also know that on the other side, you’ll find strength and comfort in the presence of God greater than you’ve ever known.

How can you relate?

I am so pleased with how the question series is turning out. The response has been unreal…absolutely unreal. If, you missed it you can download the sermon here. Or for a quick review watch this video. :)

Are you a good or bad steward of life’s time, energy, and resources?
