Everyone looks for things in life that are meaningful. Everyone. No matter how old, young, rich, poor, or race…we all want to be meaningful, do meaningful things, and leave meaningful things into others. What do you want to leave in this life that is meaningful? Or, that has meaning?
I hear all the time that theĀ salvation is free. Pastors that stand behind their pulpits and say this really have started to bug me…tremendously. Yes, it’s a correct statement that God has made the gift of salvation free, but it’s only a half-truth. Salvation is free to us, but it cost God His son…and it cost Jesus His life.
It is free to us, but just because it didn’t cost us anything…doesn’t mean it didn’t cost someone else something. Here is why this is important. Salvation is not the end it is the beginning. Jesus didn’t die for us…so that we could JUST go to Heaven. But, He died so that our relationship with Him could be restored back to its rightful place. Jesus isn’t fire insurance…He is your best friend, lover of your soul…broken or otherwise, counselor, mighty king, our provision, and our healer.
Salvation is fabulous…but take a different look at what happened on that cross…I think you will find what Jesus did has more meaning. And that, is meaningful.

You are right on pastor! Let those pastors that tell the countless martyrs for Christ that it costs nothing. It cost countless Christians their lives. He didn’t die so we could come to church and sing a song, hear a sermon, and go home. No, to be a true follower of Christ it will cost something. Maybe a relationship with someone. Maybe some money. Maybe (this one’s gonna hurt!)some of your sitting in front of the TV or computer time! We should be pouring out our lives as he poured His out for us.
