Here is a sneak peek into our coming up series and other events planned through Easter. Now, for the sake of surprise, not everything is listed. If, you want to take it all in then don’t miss a single Sunday!

1. We are baptizing some folks and we want to celebrate it together. So, if you have not signed up to be baptized you can do it here…..annnnnnddd…two of our resident grillers have been talking alot of trash here lately. So it is time to have a grilloff of major proportions. So, on Baptism Sunday (February 24) they both have been challenged to bring their “A” game to the grill for us that night at the baptism. Then we are going to vote and give the “prize” to the man that has captured our hearts and minds (really our stomachs) with the best food that is known to man! It is going to be a great night. It starts at 6:00 and depending on how cold it is it will be either at the church or a heated pool. :) Stick close for more info.

2. Everybody wants to be at church that Sunday morning February 24th. I have something planned that is so outrageous even for our standards. We are encouraging everyone…young, old, and in between to bring someone with them on that day. Also, if you are a part of our church make sure that you are in attendance because you do not want to miss out on what we have planned. Make sure and come early so you can get a seat!

3. Then for the first couple of weeks in March I am doing a two-week series called “?”. If, you have any questions for me that concern the Bible, anything at all…please e-mail them to me and I will open up a can (for better or worse) and answer them with the Bible. It is going to be a fun and interactive series.

4. Easter Sunday is going to the “The Well.” That is all I am saying about that. Service times are going to 9:30 and 11:00.

Study in James (continued)

Howdy folks…from our men’s source group last night..

James 2:14- Faith alot of people talk about it, but do you have it? Works…some people think that just being good will get you to Heaven, but is that really it? We need to have faith in Jesus and then our good works to demonstrate that He is real.

James 2:15-17- We do this all the time don’t we? We look at someone who has a legitimate need and we say things like…”I’ll pray for you!” or “Don’t worry God will work it out.” Now, prayer is for sure needed, but if you have the opportunity to solve the problem…just acting spiritual does no one any good. You have to now act on your faith and apply some works to it. If, someone is struggling and you don’t help them when you have the opportunity…what kind of faith is that?

James 2:18-22- Religious people always want to show you how “spiritual” they are, but true spirituality comes when you step up and help someone in need…or work to help them out of the problem they are in. You can’t have one without the other. Abraham not only had the faith to believe for a son, but he also was willing to sacrifice that son for His Lord.

Characteristics of people that have both working in their lives

1. Joy

2. Stability

3. Love

4. Kingdom-builders

5. They walk the walk out of church and in their homes, jobs, and relationships.

A spirit of maybe- Final Thoughts

Not just when someone is called to be an armor-bearer, but when you are called to serve God in any capacity, it is not about you anymore.  When Jesus walked the earth, he served.  He served so people could learn what knowing God was all about.

(the numbers coincide with the list)

1.      I come by serving honest.  My mother has served pastors of her church all of my life, so I learned about serving from her.

2.      The road has not always been smooth, there have been sometimes when I corrected when I should have stayed quiet. But you pray about mistakes, get forgiven, learn from it and move on.

3.      To be a leader you have to always be training your replacement, same in armor-bearing.

4.      Covering who you serve in the spiritual realm is as hard or harder than serving them in the physical realm.  I have put in some long days and nights to do things that helped Pastor reach people.

5.      See number 2.  Take your mistake, bury out back and move on.

6.      And 7. Some of the most important things I do as a servant never see the light of day, in other words, no one ever knows it was me that did it.

7.      I expect we have all heard that you should pray about everything, this is true.  EVERYTHING.  I have been sitting in my house watching tv and have Pastor get on in my spirit in a got to pray now way and later get a call from him and find out he just went through something tough.

8.      About number nine, ‘nuff said.

Well, I hope that ya’ll have enjoyed this as much as I have. I will close with this.  Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.

You know….I had a buddy one time

Later.
