Venti Living!

cfan-sandwich-board.gif Living life Venti!

As a pastor the thing that breaks my heart the most…is seeing people with great potential throw it all away. It is something that I have to give over to God, because it can upset me so much that it can rob my focus from people who really want to go places in God.

Don’t get me wrong…I believe in tracking down the hurting, broken, and deserted…it is what Jesus did…but something that the church fails to preach is the other side of Jesus. Jesus was no joke. He was serious…he walked up to disciples and said, ” Come and follow me…I will make you fishers of men.” There were no pleasantries it was let’s go! He also said things like, “Let the dead bury the dead!” and “Sell everything and come follow me.” Basically, His stance was this…if you are serious let’s do this…if not…I have others who are serious.

The best verses for summing up this thought. Look at verse 4…no soldier gets entangled in the muck and mire of the everyday…why?…because he wants to serve with freedom, power, and conviction…completely free from that which has him in bondage.

I have been reading this book and I have to admit…it has been challenging me in a really good way. For my life, I want to become one of those guys that are willing to drop everything to serve Him. I love the fact that we serve a God who isn’t just concerned about how we spend the afterlife, but one, that is truly interested in our lives right now. I have found that at certain points in my life I spent way to much energy, time, and focus on stuff that ultimately will not matter. I got some questions for you. I think if you answer them honestly…it may cause you to re-evaluate some things in your life.

1. Are you really happy with where you are in your walk with God?

2. Are you pursuing things that ultimately won’t matter?

3. Have you allowed your rebelliousness, attitudes, or ego to get in the way of what God wants to do in your life?

4. Are you more interested in being right that what is right?

5. Have you messed up relationship after relationship, but still blame others for the problems?

People never intentionally start out with the idea of making a mess of things…but guess what life happens…and if we are not careful we will continue those same mistakes until it’s to late. I hate that because there are alot of really good people locked in prisons of their own making. Today…I challenge you to step up and start living the life that God wants you to have. He wants it for you just as much as you want it for yourself.

Introducing…

Our worship at the church has been insanely good the past few months. I am proud of our team and what is happening at the church, but more importantly, I am excited that God is bringing a team together that doesn’t know what ego is about…they just want to make Him look good.

Not only is it the work of anointed musicians that know what they are doing…but…it is mainly the incredible God that we serve…and how He makes us sound better than what we really are. There are so many thoughts on worship, so many ideas as to what worship means, and theories on what makes worship…worship…my simple thought to this is…do we make Him the object of our affection? Are we in wonder of Him?

With that in mind I am excited to introduce to you our lead worshipper. :)

There are two types of people that lead worship…those that play and sing for show and the approval of others…and those that are there to lead God’s people into an intimate experience with their Saviour. I want to introduce to you the co-pastors of worship for CFAN…Scott and Ashley Clark.

We are truly blessed to have them. I want to also thank the team from South Brandon Worship Center and Pastor Harper for sending us such an awesome couple. Thanks guys…you are truly kingdom and it shows…I pray God’s richest blessings on you.

What a jammed packed weekend! It was so full of stuff it’s almost hard to put it in one post.  Let me just start by saying this….GOOD OLE ROCKY TOP!

  • Best Bye series ended very well. It was a stretch to preach on something totally different than what we are used to during the holidays, but I am already hearing about the fruit.
  • I talked to the Refuge on Saturday Night. We talked about the three M’s. Who is your Master. Who is going to be your mate. And, what is your Mission. Good times. I enjoyed being with them.
  • Good Ole’ Rocky Top!! The best game that I have seen and then heard. I can’t believe that CBS changes games from one that is close and going into overtime to a game that nobody cares about! I mean come on!
  • Some of the staff got a much needed break this weekend. We are gearing up for an amazing 2008.
  • Wonderland starts next week and it is going to be amazing!
  • Macie was a dollbaby yesterday. I love doing baby dedications.
  • Sickness is a bad thing. I am thinking of doing a series on divine health this coming year.
  • Pray for  MORE  leaders!  We are all being stretched to the limit. We need some help!
  • Al played an awesome clip at his small group. It was hard hitting at first, but then turned around and had some great things to say.
  • Did I say that the UT/UK game was amazing. Saturday is going to be another big day.
  • I enjoyed spending some time with the singers before service. What a great group of people that we have.

That was our Thanksgiving Service two years ago!! Now we are in our own building, with our own land, with our own chairs :) God is so Good! We have more people setting up the church now than we had in both of our services starting out!

I am thankful for my team. I am thankful for how passionate they are about reaching people with the Gospel. I am thankful for my wife who is as crazy as I am, and I am thankful for a crazy bunch of church planters. It has been a great ride. Thank you!
